The 2017 Chevy Silverado 2500 HD is powered by a 6.0-liter V8 with 360 hp and 6.6-liter V8 Duramax Turbo-Diesel engine. The, in addition, is a functional hood scoop. It will be mated to a 6-speed Allison automatic transmission unit. Chevrolet insiders have revealed the new scoop sucks in cool and dry air and thus keeps engine temperature lower even in hot and humid conditions. The exact output of the engine is not known but sources say it could be capable of generating 397 hp, step up from the unit used in the 2016 model.

The rated maximum towing capacity is 18,000 lbs while the payload limit is 3,534 lbs.

The pricing for 2017 Chevy Silverado 2500 HD is yet to be announced. However, the pricing for WT trim was $32,955 and the 2017 model may be priced around that range. Similarly, the LT, LTZ and top end High country trims may be priced around $43,000, $48,000 and $54,000. It will go on sale late in 2016.

 The 2017 Chevy Silverado 2500 HD is a rugged pickup truck in every sense. However, GM is banking heavily on the new engine cooling mechanism which, as per its view, will let the users brave extreme weather conditions. The truck will still have to face the competition from new Ram Rampage and Ford F150.
