Nissan has been on an overdrive to revamp its existing car portfolio and introduce new models in global markets. This is also true about the pickup truck segment. The company is pretty upbeat about its new Titan and XD series models. Once the Titan models go to dealerships, Nissan will surely turn the focus on revamping the Frontier. The truck has not received revamp for a long time. It will have a lot of features common with the company’s recent NP300 Navara pickup.
2017 Nissan Frontier – Features Design and Technology:
While the 2017 Nissan Frontier will have design elements taken from NP300 Navara, it will have some changes too. The company is likely to make two setups- larger Double Cab and smaller King Cab. A single cab setup may be there too. The front grille and bumper are likely to get chrome. Headlamps and fog lamps are likely to be reworked. Side steps may be offered as an option. The model may have Nissan’s much liked cargo bed technology with in-bed cargo rails. It may be offered in S, SV and SL trims.
The cabin of Nissan Frontier 2017 will get a good revamp. The front bucket seats would be there and enough legroom is expected in it. The company’s Around-View Monitor camera is likely to be used.
You can expect the 2017 Nissan Frontier to be equipped with enough entertainment and safety features. Lane departure warning, blind sport monitoring and rear parking sensors can be present in the model.
2017 Nissan Frontier – Drivetrain Configuration:
Nissan has not said anything on the engine that will be used in the 2017 Frontier. The existing 2.5-liter four-cylinder diesel engine with 152 hp and 171 lb-ft of torque. The 5-speed automatic and six-speed manual transmission unit may be offered. It is hard to say if Nissan will offer a mightier 4.0-liter V6 engine with 261 hp.
2017 Nissan Frontier – Price and Expected Release Date:
Details about pricing of 2017 Nissan Frontier are not known. However, the company may raise the prices for each trim slightly. So, the base trim price may be around $19,000 while top end trim may get a price tag of $37,000.
While design revamp will do the 2017 Frontier good, it will still face steep competition from the likes of Chevrolet Colorado and Toyota Tacoma. Pricing also plays a role in this regard. It still will appeal to the mid-range truck buyers looking for a competent vehicle.
