The TRD Pro series was introduced by Toyota in 2014 and the models like Tundra and Tacoma got the version. However, for some reason, the Japanese car giant dropped the option for Tacoma in 2016. Now, the TRD Pro option for Tacoma is back and the 2017 model comes with plenty of enhancements. The off-road pickup truck has a stylish and bold design. Its features and engine are capable enough to lock horns with rivals from Ford and GM.

The Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro gets an exterior revamp for 2017 with TRD pro badging embossed at many places. Even the cabin gets the badging embossed and stitched. While drive train remains almost same as a predecessor, the technology and entertainment features are better.

The 2017 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro has a stylish and rugged exterior, beyond any doubt. The front is dominated by mesh hexagonal grille and wraparound projector beam headlamps. The Rigid Industries Fog lights are LED powered and beneath the front bumper, there is an aluminum skid plate, indicating it’s all-terrain prowess. The Truck gets all-terrain Goodyear tires and 16-inch alloy wheels. The tailgate also gets the TRD Pro badging and it is also present on the vehicle’s front doors.  It is going to be sold in three hues- Super White, Barcelona Red Metallic, and cement.

The 2016 version of Tacoma got a cabin revamp and the Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro 2017 version does not incorporate many changes inside. However, small changes are there like all-weather floor mats with TRD Pro-branding, leather seats, a 4.2-inch TFT screen.

The 3.5-liter V6 engine powers new Tacoma TRD Pro and you can opt for either a six-speed automatic or manual transmission unit. The engine runs both Otto and Atkinson combustion cycle for a balance of power and fuel economy. It generates 278 hp. The Tacoma TRD Pro tackles rough terrains and icy roads with aplomb owing to its Fox Racing shock absorbers. If you opt for the model with automatic transmission, you get Toyota’s Crawl Control and hill start assist control as standard. Of course, there is the Multi-terrain Select system which engages apt traction based on 5 different driving modes. In the model with Manual transmission, you get Active Traction Control of Toyota.

While the 2017 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro is not aimed at leisure seeking users like the Renault Alaskan, it doesn’t skimp on infotainment features. The safety options are also pretty good. The Entune infotainment system of Toyota is there with the newest additions and there are HD and satellite radio. You also get features like integrated GoPro camera mount, rearview mirror, Blind Spot Monitor, and rear parking assist sonar. A towing package is standard for the truck which includes trailer-sway control. The towing capacity is 6400 pounds. The payload is approximately 1420 pounds.

The 2017 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro with a manual transmission costs approx $37,000 while the model with automatic version costs $40,760. It will start selling late in 2016.

The 2017 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro will be excellent off-road pickup truck with a powerful engine and rugged build. The all terrain tires and skid plate ensures you can take it too literally any place. Inside, the amenities are aplenty and technology features will satisfy the geeks too. However, that does not mean the Tacoma TRD Pros does not have any potent rival. It will have to face heat from contenders like Chevrolet Colorado Z71 Trail Boss edition which has better tires. Nevertheless, the 2017 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro offers impressive off-road prowess and packs in enough technology to keep you entertained as well.
